Ezequiel Tafoya Alvarado 1913-2008

ETAA is named after a pioneering Latino educator, activist, and minister, Ezequiel Tafoya Alvarado. He was born to Mexican immigrant parents in El Paso, Texas in 1913. Despite humble origins, Ezequiel excelled academically and athletically. He received his A.A. degree from Compton College and his M.A. in Theology from the University of Southern California at a time when very few Latinos were experiencing post secondary success. He served as an inspiration for his family, friends and many numerous people who have gone on to achieve more than expected due to his influence, guidance, and spirit.

As one of the true pioneers for Latinos in the valley, we honor him by naming our school after him.
