Mr. Hernandez

Welcome to Mr. Hernandez’s Class

I’m Mr. Hernandez and I'm looking forward to teaching Sixth Grade this year.  This will be my fourth year teaching here at ETAA.  I taught Third Grade for three years, and two years prior to that, I worked part-time as a substitute teacher for ETAA, Central Unified, and the Fresno County Office of Education.  I attained my teaching degree from National University.  Before becoming a school teacher, I worked for a firm as a Business Process and Technology Consultant for six years.

Expectations and Goals

This upcoming year, I expect my students to work incredibly hard and to constantly challenge themselves.  We will cover California Content Standards for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.  I look forward to exceptional behavior in and out of the classroom.  Students can anticipate substantial reading and writing.  My primary goal is for every student to improve academically and become a better critical thinker and problem solver by the end of the year!

Description of classroom procedures

Classroom procedures for going to the restroom, drinking water, asking questions, what to do when work is finished early, going to lunch, returning to class from recess, etc. will be explained and practiced during the first weeks of school.

Reading lists and projects.

As a class we will read two medalist books, Holes and The Giver, namely.   If time allows, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their acting skills by performing part of each book.
